Tax preparation for investors
Active trading, crypto, private investments and K-1s turn a simple return into a detailed one. We report every piece accurately and point out the planning opportunities that come with it.
Who we help
- Investors with taxable brokerage accounts
- Crypto and digital-asset holders
- Limited partners and private-fund investors receiving K-1s
- Retirees drawing from a mix of accounts
- Anyone who sold a large position or business interest
What we handle
Capital gains and losses
We reconcile every 1099-B, check basis and holding periods, apply wash-sale adjustments, and track capital-loss carryforwards so nothing is lost from one year to the next.
Crypto and digital assets
Brokers have begun issuing Form 1099-DA for digital-asset sales, but exchange data is still frequently incomplete. We reconcile wallets and exchange records to report gains accurately and answer the digital-asset question on your return correctly.
K-1s from partnerships, S corporations and trusts
We report K-1 income, losses, basis and at-risk limitations, and state-source income — and we know how to work with late or amended K-1s without holding up your whole return.
Net investment income tax and estimated payments
We calculate the 3.8% net investment income tax, deduct investment interest where allowed (Form 4952), and set estimated payments that meet the safe-harbor rules.
Planning opportunities
Year-end loss harvesting, gain timing, qualified small business stock (Section 1202), and charitable gifts of appreciated shares are all worth a conversation. We’ll flag what applies to you.
Common questions
Do you prepare returns with a lot of trades?
Yes. We import brokerage data and review it for basis and wash-sale issues rather than simply passing it through.
How do you handle crypto?
We reconcile exchange and wallet records against any 1099-DA or 1099-B you received, identify missing basis, and report gains and income accurately.
Do you give investment advice?
Our work is tax preparation and tax planning. We’ll explain the tax consequences of decisions you’re weighing, and are happy to coordinate with your financial advisor.
Let’s make this year’s taxes the calm part.
Book a short introductory call. We’ll learn about your situation, tell you plainly how we can help, and give you a clear fee before any work begins.
